This breed needs early, consistent training from a master that exudes leadership. Shar-Peis can be socialized to get along with children and other pets. Shar-Peis are extremely easy to housebreak. A Shar-Pei needs to be protected from extreme heat and can live in an apartment with enough exercise.

Shar-Pei Trivia: The Shar-Pei has a purple tongue. Shar-Peis are depicted on Chinese pottery dating back to 206 B.C. Shar-Peis have a severe, frowning expression but are actually very loving dogs.
