After a LOT of physical & emotional rehab, clearing up his medical issues and ongoing training, Vegas is more than ready to go to a forever home of his own. He's a dog that will bond with you deeply and never leave your side. He gets along great with people but will need to be monitored around other dominant males and very submissive or insecure females. He loves to play rough with other dogs (wrestle at a high level) so larger dogs would be ideal. (Updated 1/20/14) Meet Lottie! Rescued from a high school yard where students where kicking and throwing things at her, Lottie is looking for her forever home. Currently, San Antonio rescue Pause for Paws has stepped in and is paying for her vet bills but they do not have room to foster her. I took her to the vet and he said that she is probably about a year old, and might be a Shar-Pei mix. She has demodex mange and serious ear mites. However, she is heartworm negative and is now on flea and heartworm prevention. I am also giving her meds for the mange and the ears and in a few days the vet wants to pack her ears to help speed up the ... (Read More)healing process. She is super friendly, very smart walks right beside me on a leash, plays with toys, and is really just a love muffin. She loves to give puppy kisses. Lottie is not fixed and not potty trained. She doesn't have any shots either. Per the vet, they are more concerned with her skin and ears and once she is a little healthier, will give her the shots and spay her. I need help finding her a better foster situation or a forever home because the situation is not working out at my apartment. I live in a small apartment and have a Chihuahua mix, Nola. Nola is 10 lbs, Lottie is almost 50. The two dogs do not get along (more on Nola's part than Lottie's) and I simply do not have time to train Lottie. I work 50-60 hrs a week. She needs a place with a yard and someone who has time to devote to her. She gets along with cats and other dogs, and she did great at the vet and in the car. She is protective of her food but that is probably because she had been on the street since Sept. 2013 or longer. Lottie followed teenagers around the school all the time and was not afraid or aggressive towards them, however, I do not know how she is with younger children. Once she heals, I know Lottie is going to make a great family member. I am reaching out to everyone I can hoping to find either a rescue that can place her in a more suitable foster home or a forever home where I know she will be safe and loved. My heart just breaks for her but I cannot keep her. I can transport her, I just want to find her a good home because she is just too sweet. Junie came to us with her litter of pups and little to no hair at all. Being a stray and delivering her litter elevated her stress level and caused demodex mange to flare up. She has been doing great with antibiotics and her hair is growing back. Shar-Pei Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Shar-Pei is an adorable medium sized, wrinkled dog. Shar-Peis are intelligent, dominant dogs. This breed needs early, consistent training from a master that exudes leadership. Shar-Peis can be socialized to get along with children and other pets. Shar-Peis are extremely easy to housebreak. A Shar-Pei needs to be protected from extreme heat and can live in an apartment with enough exercise.
