|Animal ID: 50Dinah (female)|
SPECIAL NEEDS: HEARTWORM POSITIVE. Dinah is a nice calmer girl. She was surrendered to us by her owner who could no longer keep her. She is on the calm side and would like nothing more than to be a couch potato. She is heartworm positive and will require a rescue to pull her to get her treatment. 63 lbs. 5 years, 1 month. If you have questions or would like to meet the dog featured on this page, please call (216) 664-3476 to speak to an adoption representative at CITY DOGS Cleveland. Or email email@example.com About Our Shelter... CITY DOGS Cleveland is a program of Cleveland Animal Care & Control (CACC), located at 2690 W. 7th St. Cleveland, OH 44113. Public hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am-3pm, and Sunday 12-2pm. The CITY DOGS mission is to increase adoptions from the City Kennel by changing the image of the pit bulls who make up the majority of the kennel population, by preparing all adoptable dogs in the kennel for lives in loving homes and by creating as many opportunities as possible for the public to meet and get to know our dogs for the terrific pets they are meant to be. Our Adoption Process... Here's a little about how things work: All of the CITY DOGS posted for adoption are available for direct adoption from the kennel, unless noted otherwise. A handful of dogs are only available for rescue pull, which can be for a variety of reasons. You can either stop in during our open hours to meet a dog, or set up a meet and greet with your dog, which allows us to get the dog out of his/her cage for some exercise before you arrive. To set up a meet and greet, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. About Our Dogs: All available dogs have been assessed. This assessment is a snapshot of who the dog is at that given time. Our dogs are strays and we cannot make any guarantees with regard to behavior, temperament or health of any City Dog. We do not know what kind of home environment they were living in (i.e. with kids, other dogs or other cats), nor do we know if they are house trained. Everything we know about them is based on volunteer and staff observations. It is very hard to tell with certainty whether or not a dog will be good with kids, cats or another dog. If you have kids in the home or another dog, we do require that they be present for a meet and greet with the dog you are considering for adoption. Health/Vaccinations: Dogs that are adopted directly from the kennel need to go to your personal vet within a week or so of leaving the kennel. They do have their DHPP, Rabies and Bordetella vaccinations, are dewormed once and have a microchip. In addition, unfortunately many of the dogs do get kennel cough. This is not something that is contagious to people at all, but dogs that do have it will need to be on an antibiotic. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 17-05-30-00277Ox (male)|
Hello. My name is Ox. I'm about 2 years old and I weigh about 63 lbs. I was seized by the pound in November 2016. The pound has recently been granted custody of us all and we can now begin our well deserved search for loving families to join. We have all lived neglectful, abusive lives. but we can now move on with our lives. I am a very sweet, happy and loving dog. My hobbies include going for walks and playing with toys. I get along with some, but not all other dogs, so if you have any other dogs we need to meet prior to adoption to ensure we get along okay. I would love to find a new home with a wonderful family to love soon. If you're interested in possibly adopting me, please call or stop in to the pound so see if we would be a good match for each other. **SAME DAY ADOPTIONS WILL NOT APPLY TO OX OR ANY OF THE DOGS FROM THIS CASE. BACKGROUND CHECKS AND/OR HOME VISITS FOR THE ADOPTER MAY NEED DONE PRIOR TO ADOPTION. DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS CASE WITH THESE DOGS, WE WILL VERY CAREFULLY SCREEN POTENTIAL ADOPTERS TO FIND THE BEST SUITED HOME FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL DOG.** Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. ALL dogs/puppies adopted from our shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 weeks or older), be dewormed with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. IF the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, lack or space, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. The adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are: Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm Saturday: 9 am- 12 pm. The pound is CLOSED to the public on Sunday. There is nobody in the office on Saturday and Sunday, so therefore we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. |Rescue Me ID: 17-04-03-00096Skyler (female)|
Skyler, 3 year old lab/sharpei mix Skyler is one of our younger rescues from a high kill shelter. She is high energy and would do best with an active single or couple. She is somewhat dog friendly with dogs her size but her hard play can escalate to scuffles. She is a little mouthy and strong in her play so no young children. Smaller breeds and cats she shows prey drive. All in all, for now, best suited as the only pet in your home unless you are dog savvy and continue to work on her. She is not to blame as she has had little or no instruction in her life, and simply is finding her way on how to act. She is fully vetted, crate trained, loves meal and treat time, quiet, house broken. Loves toys and will destroy them in minutes. Best suited at this time as the only pet, no young children, and a fenced yard is a must. She would make an incredible running partner and is good on a leash. Fully vetted, spayed and current on all preventatives. (Less)

Shar-Pei Dogs can make good pets in Ohio if they match your IifestyIe. The Shar-Pei is an adorable medium sized, wrinkled dog. Shar-Peis are intelligent, dominant dogs. This breed needs early, consistent training from a master that exudes leadership. Shar-Peis can be socialized to get along with children and other pets. Shar-Peis are extremely easy to housebreak. A Shar-Pei needs to be protected from extreme heat and can live in an apartment with enough exercise.
